Slim Willie and The Ride is a Minnesota based Swing, Jump, and Chicago Blues band that is cruising into Bluesville with hopping sounds of blues greats from the 50's and 60's from the West Coast and Chicago. The band members are all experienced musicians on stage and in studio, having played events or Festivals with such legends as the great Buddy Guy, swing man Rick Estrin, Johnny Winter, George Thorogood, and Canned Heat. Several of the Slim Willie and The Ride band members are past winners of the MN Blues Society's “Road to Memphis Challenge” and have been proud to represent the MN Blues Society in the annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Performances at some of the more prestigious Midwest venues and festivals include Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago (with Buddy !), The Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth, Mn., Prairie Du Chien Blues Festival, BB's Jazz, Blues,and Soups in St. Louis, and the Fargo North Dakota Blues Festival.
The Ride's unique sound comes from the powerful horsepower of veteran blues guitarist Tom “Chief” Kochie and swing jazz guitarist Michael King who trade soulful guitar licks as easily as shifting gears. The rhythm section features Tim Scribner on upright bass and swing stick man Kurt Savela on drums. On harmonica and vocals, front man Bill “Slim Willie” Keyes drives it home with rich, soulful vocals and big harp tone.
